Module 02 of 12

Spreadsheets & Excel

Lessons

About This Module

Spreadsheets are the fastest way to explore a dataset, and Excel is still the tool most business teams use every day. This module starts with formulas and functions: cell references, SUM, AVERAGE, and the IF function for adding logic to a calculation.

You'll then learn to combine data from different tables with XLOOKUP, the modern replacement for VLOOKUP, and to summarise large datasets in seconds with pivot tables, including sorting, filtering, slicers, and pivot charts. The module finishes with charts and dashboards, so you can turn a summary into something a stakeholder can read at a glance.

Once you can slice and summarise data in a spreadsheet, you'll be ready for the next module, Statistics Fundamentals, where you learn how to reason about what the numbers actually mean.
