Module 09 of 10

Monitoring & Automation

Lessons

About This Module

A healthy database is one you keep an eye on. Monitoring & automation is how a DBA spots slow queries and growing problems early, and how the routine work gets done on schedule without anyone having to remember it.

You'll start with monitoring in SQL Server, using Activity Monitor to see live activity and Query Store to track query performance over time. From there the module moves to automation with SQL Server Agent: creating jobs that run T-SQL, command line, or PowerShell steps, and setting up alerts so you hear about problems when they happen.

With your databases watched and your routine work automated, you'll be ready for the final module, Cloud & NoSQL Databases, where you look beyond the traditional on-premises relational server.
