Module 07 of 10

3D Game Development

Lessons

About This Module

3D games add a third axis, and with it a few new ideas: working in 3D space, placing a camera, moving a character in three dimensions, and making a world look good with materials and lighting. Most of what you learned in 2D still applies, including scenes, collisions, and scripting.

You'll start with a short overview of the 3D workflow in Godot: greyboxing a level to test it quickly, adding a character controller and 3D physics, importing 3D assets, and setting up the environment, lighting, and camera. Then you'll build a complete first-person Survivor Arena game from scratch in a single long project.

With a 3D game under your belt, you'll be ready for Game AI & Gameplay Systems, where you make enemies think and build the systems that make a game fun to play.
