Networking is the foundation everything else in the cloud sits on. Before you place a single server or database, you decide how it will be addressed, who can reach it, and how traffic gets to it. This module covers the network pieces a cloud architect uses in almost every design.
You'll start with the virtual private cloud (VPC), the private network you carve out inside a provider's infrastructure, and how it is divided into public and private subnets. From there you'll look at load balancers, which spread incoming requests across multiple servers so an application stays available and scalable, and at content delivery networks, which serve content from locations close to your users.
The module finishes with hybrid connectivity: linking your cloud network to an office or data center using a site-to-site VPN or a dedicated connection such as AWS Direct Connect. Next up is compute, where you'll run workloads on the network you've just designed.
An introduction to cloud networking with AWS Virtual Private Cloud, covering how a VPC is laid out and how subnets divide it into public and private parts.
How Elastic Load Balancing works in AWS and why it matters for building scalable, highly available applications, including the difference between application and network load balancers.
What a CDN is and how it makes websites load faster by bringing content closer to the people using it.
How to connect an on-premises network to the cloud using a Site-to-Site VPN or AWS Direct Connect, and how to choose between the two.
