In the Networking module you learned how networks work in general. Now you'll apply those ideas in the cloud, where you build your own private network from software. The core building block is the virtual private cloud (VPC): an isolated network that you divide into subnets and connect to the internet through route tables, gateways and NAT.
You'll then learn how to control traffic with security groups and network ACLs, spread it across servers with load balancers, point users to the right place with DNS, and link separate networks together with VPC peering. The examples use AWS, but Azure and Google Cloud offer the same ideas under different names. Watch the videos in order, then move on to Identity & Security.
How a VPC is built from public and private subnets, route tables, an internet gateway and a NAT gateway.
How the two firewall layers in a VPC differ, and how to configure each one.
The Application, Network and Classic load balancers and when to use each.
Domains, DNS records, routing policies and health checks in Route 53.
A hands-on demo of connecting two VPCs privately without using the public internet.
