Module 07 of 15

Storage & Databases

Lessons

About This Module

Almost every application needs to keep data somewhere. In the cloud you can choose between block, file and object storage, and between relational (SQL) and NoSQL databases. Picking the right one affects cost, speed and how easily your system can grow, so it's worth understanding how each one works.

You'll start with the three storage types and then look at object storage with Amazon S3. Next you'll compare relational and NoSQL databases, learn the basics of SQL for reading and writing data, and see how a managed database service such as Amazon RDS takes care of backups, patching and failover for you. Watch the videos in order, then move on to Cloud Networking.
