Finding a weakness is only half the story. To show a client what a flaw really means, an ethical hacker proves it can be used, then shows how far an attacker could get from there. This module covers that second half, always inside a lab or an authorised test.
You'll start with exploitation using Metasploit, the most widely used framework for running exploits and delivering payloads. Then you'll move into post-exploitation: what you do once you have access, and how privilege escalation turns a low-level foothold into full control of a system. Understanding these steps is also what lets defenders spot and stop them.
Everything here must stay on machines you own or have written permission to test, such as intentionally vulnerable lab VMs. Next you'll widen the view in Network, Wireless & Cloud Security.
A beginner lesson on how ethical hackers use Metasploit to run an exploit against a vulnerable lab machine.
A beginner-friendly course on Metasploit covering exploits, payloads, and post-exploitation, with every topic explained simply.
HackerSploit covers how to go from a low-privilege user to root on Linux by finding and abusing common misconfigurations.
A hands-on walkthrough of a lab room that teaches more than eight Linux privilege escalation techniques, from enumeration to exploitation.
