Module 07 of 10

Databases, JDBC & JPA

Lessons

About This Module

Almost every application needs to remember things, and for most of them that means a relational database. This module shows how Java programs store and retrieve data, from writing the queries yourself to letting a framework map your objects to tables for you.

You'll start with SQL: designing tables and writing queries to select, insert, update, and delete data. Then JDBC shows how Java talks to a database directly, which is the foundation everything else is built on. Finally JPA and Hibernate map your classes to tables, so you can work with objects and let the framework generate the SQL.

With data persistence covered, you'll be ready for the next module, Spring Boot & REST APIs, where you'll put it all behind a real web service.
