Every Java developer starts in the same place: understanding what Java is, how your code actually runs, and the basic building blocks of the language. This module gives you that foundation, so everything later in the course has something solid to stand on.
You'll begin with the big picture: what Java is used for, and how the JDK, JRE, and JVM turn source code into a running program. Then you'll write real code: your first program, variables and data types, operators, control flow with conditions and loops, and working with arrays and strings.
Once you're comfortable with the syntax, you'll be ready for the next module, Object-Oriented Programming, where you'll start modelling problems with classes and objects.
A fast overview of what Java is, how it compiles to platform-independent bytecode, and where it's used, from enterprise web apps to big data.
How the JDK, JRE, and JVM nest together, and the journey your code takes from source file to bytecode to a running program.
Installing Java, writing your first program, and covering variables, primitive and reference types, strings, arrays, operators, casting, and a mortgage calculator project.
A beginner-friendly course covering the core language: arrays, objects, classes, loops, and debugging, to reinforce what you've learned.
