About This Module

Good UX starts with understanding what it actually is. User experience design is the practice of making products that are useful, usable and pleasant, and it is much more than making screens look nice. This module explains what UX covers and walks through the design process from discovery to delivery, so you can see where every later skill in the course fits.

You'll then learn the ideas that guide almost every design decision: Jakob Nielsen's usability heuristics, the Gestalt principles that explain how people group what they see, and the psychology of design, including cognitive load and how people decide.

Treat the videos as a foundation to return to as you work through the course. When you're done, continue on to User Research.
